Red Alert for Heatwaves in Odisha, West Bengal

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday has issued a red alert for heat-waves over coastal Odisha, West Bengal for next 5 days.It look like there is no relief for people across India from scorching heat as the IMD has predicted heat-wave condition in many parts of India over the next few days.

It is stated by IMD that arts of Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Odisha, Maharashtra, and West Bengal will most likely to witness high temperatures and heat-waves in the upcoming days.Today Gautam Budhnagar and Ghaziabad are set for poll including six other constituencies in west Uttar Pradesh. Voters  are going to witness scorching heat through-out the poll duration.

According to Skymet weather the temperature across Delhi NCR is likely to rise today, before the pre-monsoon showers lash the capital city maybe sometimes in evening or night.Heat-wave condition in Odisha  is reported with the highest maximum temperature of 43.8 degree celsius at Jharsuguda of the state.It is predicted by IMD that heat-waves condition prevalling in southern West Bengal will continue till at least Sunday, with increase in temperature.

The severe heat-wave condition in West Bengal is caused by dry westerly wind and strong  solar insolation , due to which state government has reschedule summer holidays in schools run or aided by  it, and many private schools have switched  to online classes or have changed their school timings. IMD stated that there will be gradual rise in the maximum temperature by two to four degrees Celsius over the next three days and there will be no big change in temperature in next two days. IMD has suggested people to avoid prolonged heat exposure and avoid outdoor work between 11Am to 4Pm.

The IMD has issued a heat-wave alert for Maharashtra’s Thane, Raigad districts, and parts of Mumbai from April 27 to 29 as well. Due to anti-cyclonic circulation over Thane, Raigad and other parts of Maharashtra will lead to increase in temperature stated by IMD scientist. This is the second heat-wave alert for the people of Maharashtra, IMD  has advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor work and try to stay hydrated as much as they can.
