Economy Meals at Rs 20 by Indian Railways
The Indian Railways along with IRCTC has taken an initiative and introduced to economy meal at Rs 20 for the comfort of passengers ,specifically travelling in general coaches. During summer vacation , all railway station witness huge rush of passenger of all age group, those travelling in general coaches ,it get difficult for them to come out from the compartment to grab some food.
Under this initiative, two types of meals will be available for the passengers at an affordable cost: an economy meal at Rs 20 and a snack meal at Rs 50. Indian Railway has started this meal counter in more than 100 railway stations in India. In the Waitair Division of the East Coast Railway, economy meals are available at major stations. including Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Road at the Station Refreshment Rooms and Jan Aahaar units.
Meals are available at the counters conveniently located near the general second-class (GS) coaches on platforms. The initiative aims to cater to the food requirements of passengers while ensuring convenience and affordability, stated by divisional railway manager Suarabh Prasad. Waitair Division has roped in the services of NGOs and voluntary agencies to provide drinking water and buttermilk at railway stations during the summer months.
